Along with that, there are quite a few people out there that actually opt to see the PA. This could be because of the lowered rate, or it could be because the proper physician is fully booked. Just like with any other profession in the medical field, there are ways to branch out. The medical field will allow some great branching out, which means you could look ingto surgery, radiology, or even pediatrics. Keep in mind that those who branch out and even take on PA positions have typically performed in nursing positions or performed other duties.

If you do meet all of the physician assistant requirements you will find that work is plentiful. Such locations encompass outpatient care centers, maintenance organizations, schools, and of course hospitals. All of these are open to you should you obtain this highly coveted certification.

Overall, the job responsibilities of a physician assistant will be dictated by the state. Sometimes a PA will fill out prescriptions, but in some states only full physicians can perform this task. The job description will change across state lines, but a few things will stay the same. The most noteworthy of course, would be that becoming certified calls for some hard work. In addition to that you will need to establish a prior medical background. As you can see, this isn’t an easy job, even if it is easier to land than a PhD.

The last thing we will mention is the fact that there are too few physician assistants in the United States, and they are quickly becoming popular. There is no doubt that the profession will become highly sought after, and the overall physician assistant salary is going to increase significantly depending on the level of experience that you can bring to the table.
